Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance for evaluations?
No. As of June 1, 2026 we no longer accept insurance for evaluations. Insurance companies frequently deny or limit coverage for psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, creating delays and unexpected costs for families. By working directly with you, we eliminate those barriers and give you a clear, upfront cost with no surprises.
Can I still get reimbursed by my insurance for an evaluation?
Yes! We provide a superbill after every evaluation. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurance company before your evaluation to ask about your out-of-network benefits for psychological testing (CPT codes 96130, 96131, 96136, 96137, and 90791).
Do you accept insurance for therapy?
Yes! All therapy services can be billed through insurance.
How much does an evaluation cost?
Because every evaluation is tailored to individual needs, pricing varies. During your free consultation, we will recommend the right evaluation and provide an estimated price. A 10% nonrefundable deposit is due to secure the first session and another 10% deposit is due at your first session.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept HSA (Health Savings Account), FSA (Flexible Spending Account), and ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) funds, and we offer flexible payment plans. We also provide superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! A 20% deposit is due at your first session, and we offer flexible payment plans to spread the remaining balance over several months. We also accept HSA, FSA, and ESA funds. During your free consultation, we'll discuss payment options that work for your situation.
How long does an evaluation take?
It depends on the type. A focused ADHD evaluation may involve 2–4 hours of face-to-face time, while a comprehensive autism or psychoeducational evaluation can involve 6–10+ hours spread across multiple appointments. We will give you a clear timeline during your consultation.
What ages do you work with?
We work with clients ages 8 through adulthood.
Do you provide evaluations for adults?
Absolutely. Many adults were never evaluated as children, or their needs have changed over time. We evaluate adults for ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and other concerns. You don’t have to be a student or a child to benefit from an evaluation.
What do I get at the end of an evaluation?
Every evaluation includes a comprehensive written report with findings, diagnosis (if applicable), and detailed recommendations. You’ll also have a follow-up session to review the results, ask questions, and discuss next steps. The report is yours to share with schools, employers, other providers, or to keep for your own records.
What makes Dr. Stafford different from other evaluators?
Dr. Stafford brings 20+ years of experience as a clinical and school psychologist, plus 6 years as a special education director. He doesn’t just diagnose—he writes reports that schools and institutions actually respond to, and he can help you develop a strategy for getting the support you or your child needs.
